Just six months since their last price Electric Ireland have announced they are increasing prices again, this time by 10.2%.
In a move that may take many customers by surprise, electricity supplier Electric Ireland has announced a large increase of 10.2% in their tariff rate. This news comes just six months after the energy supplier last increased its prices for customers.

What does the price increase mean for customers?
Electric Ireland has over 91k electricity customers in Northern Ireland, around 11% of the domestic market, who will now see their bills increase.
The price change will come into effect from 1st August 2021 and will mean an increase of almost £60 for a typical customer*. And this comes on the back of a 3.7% price increase that Electric Ireland introduced on 1st February 2021, which added around £21 to a typical bill.
Coupled with February’s increase, customers have now been hit with a total increase of 13.89%, adding around £81 to a typical customers bill.

What Electric Ireland have said…
Commenting on the price increase, Clare McAllister, Northern Ireland Residential Manager, commented that Electric Ireland…
‘are always determined to keep costs for our customers as low as possible and have sought to protect them from increases in wholesale energy costs where we can. However, continued increases in wholesale prices mean that we must reluctantly apply a rise at this time.’
What tariffs do Electric Ireland provide…
Electric Ireland provide Pay as You Go (Keypad) and Credit (Bill Pay) tariffs for customers. You can choose between a discount rate tariff, or tariffs that come with a range of cashbacks across both keypad and bill pay.
In the Consumer Councils Customer Satisfaction Survey of Electricity Suppliers (September 2020) 67% of customers were satisfied with Electric Ireland as their electricity supplier.
