Today marks the launch of Power To Switch, a new service to help people take control of their home energy costs. ‘Power to Switch’ makes it easy to compare energy prices, save money on bills, find the best deal and make your hard-earned money go that bit further.
Developed by Aodhan O’Donnell, who previously led the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland, it provides independent and impartial information, advice and support on energy issues and can help you find a better deal. So whether you are wanting to compare electricity tariffs, gas tariffs or even compare the cost to heat you home with gas rather than oil then ‘Power to Switch’ can help.
Speaking at the launch of ‘Power to Switch’ Aodhan O’Donnell commented:
‘’It is difficult for people to compare energy prices, to access information, to understand their options and feel in control of their energy choices. ‘Power to Switch’ seeks to tackle this by helping people compare deals but also much, much more. There are energy guides tackling all sorts of energy issues from billing to support for vulnerable consumers. There is advice on energy efficiency measures as well as information on a range of energy grants and assistance which are available.
‘Being focused on consumers also means involving consumers. ‘Power to Switch’ provides a place for people to share their views. They can rate their electricity and gas supplier or provide feedback on how switching supplier has actually worked for them. Not only can this help other people think through their options but the feedback can let energy suppliers know what their customers actually think’.
Power to Switch aims to give people the power over their home energy costs. There is no big mystery – the energy market is open to competition, there are a range of suppliers and tariffs to choose from. Many of us shop around for car insurance, travel insurance, broadband and mobile deals – the aim of ‘Power to Switch’ is to make it just as easy to find the best energy deal.
