Electric Ireland have become the latest supplier to announce a price drop for their electricity customers in Northern Ireland.
This will be welcome as many of us continue to spend more time at home – so at a time of year when energy use tends to drop we have actually seen it increase. Therefore, a 4.1% decrease in electricity prices will be welcomed as good news.
What does the price drop mean for customers?
Electric Ireland have over 91k electricity customers in Northern Ireland, around 11% of the domestic market, who will now benefit from this latest price decrease.

What Electric Ireland have said…
Commenting on the price reduction, Clare McAllister, Northern Ireland Residential Manager, said that Electric Ireland are pleased to be able to announce this price decrease which will go some way to helping households during this difficult period.
She said that ‘this announcement reflects Electric Ireland’s commitment to giving our growing numbers of customers in Northern Ireland the best possible value. We are pleased to support them with this reduction, particularly at this challenging time for families.’
What tariffs do Electric Ireland provide…
Electric Ireland provide Pay as You Go (Keypad) and Credit (Bill Pay) tariffs for domestic customers. You can choose between a discount rate tariff, or tariffs that come with a range of cashbacks across both keypad and bill pay.
With a customer score of 66%, Electric Ireland were ranked in first place amongst Northern Ireland energy suppliers, in the latest Which? Energy Company Customer Satisfaction Survey.
